I have read that the Late 2014 will work. Have of me wishes I never did this, and just stayed on a PC with Sonar and Sonic Core. I have to say, this is my first Protools experience and it has been nothing but issues for over a month and a half.
I thought I might get an Mac Mini as well to test out. I have a Late 2015 one coming and a Late 2014 one coming. I bought both and will just return the one that does not work. Remember it runs fine on Mac Mini on OS 10.11.1 with PT 12.3 or 12.4 Always the same problem As mentioned, I can take everything, everything out of the equasion, and it still happens. I had external TB hard drives, Sample Drives, Apollo, HDMI external monitor hooked in. If it happens on 3 Imacs, that would be quite unfortunate. I have one more coming to me in the next week. Always freezing, spinning ball, music still plays, VI's freeze and have to jog the screen to get it unfrozen.Īs mentioned I ran the same test on my Mac Mini with 10.11.1 late 2014 i5 2.6 with 1TB 5400 Rpm drive. I have taken it down to the core with just Imac OS and Protools 12.4 now. I cant remember and 24 gigs ram 1TB 7200 spinner. It has happened on 2 different Imacs, with no peripherals hooked in at this point. As you notice others are having the same issues as me. I can return it as I am still under Christmas return time. Has anyone else had this issue with the new iMac? Please help. Today I did a test and installed same software PTHD 12.3.1 on my late 2014 Mac mini i5 2.3 with 8 gigs and only a 5400 internal 1TB Drive. I have taken Apollo out of the chain and only using internal Mac sound. Have had remote sessions from Avid support, and nothing. I have done troubleshooting for the month and cannot solve this. I have checked supported Computers on Avids page and only mid 2015 iMac is supported. System freezes, beach ball spinning, project still plays audio, VI will stop playing, I have to click somewhere on the screen, or try to move the Protools window to unfreeze. Running with Protools 12.3.1 HD and Apollo 8 Thunderbolt Quad.īeen having issue ever since the system was put together.
